Includes correspondence, research subject files, biography files, publications, speeches, as well as teaching, organizational, and administrative files documenting more than 50 years of Kranzberg's professional life as college teacher, lecturer, historian of technology, consultant, conference organizer, as well as his personal activities, 1934-1968. A respected expert in his field, he often served as consultant, wrote a textbook as well as encyclopedia articles. Subject files detail his research on hundred of diverse topics, most of which are also reflected in his volumous professional correspondence. For the most part, the correspondence is work related, however there are some personal letters. Kranzberg regularly served as consultant to many organizations and actively participated in a number of academic sodieties. Organizations reflected in his papers include: Association for the Advancement of Science; the Carter Library; American Association for the Advancement of Science's committee on Science, Engineering, and Public Policy (COSEPP); International Cooperation on History of Technology Committee (ICOHTEC); National Academy of Sciences's Committee on the Survey of Materials Science and Engineering (COSMAT); National Aeronautics and Space ADministration's Historical Advisory Board; the National Endowment for the Humanities; National Science Foundation; Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society; Society for the History of Technology (SHOT); U. S. Bicentennial Committee; among others.
